One Country Team Approach (OCTA) was in full sight as the Philippine Embassy in the UAE, Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, and the Migrant Workers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai assembled to send off a batch of Filipino repatriates under the UAE Amnesty Program 2024 on 12 September 2024.
A total of sixty-four (64) repatriates were successfully sent home, 35 of whom came from Abu Dhabi while 29 were from Dubai, through the facilitation of the Philippine Embassy, PCG, and MWOs.
Consul General Marford Angeles, Labor Attache John Rio A. Bautista, Labor Attache Teresa Olgado, and other officials and employees of PE-Abu Dhabi and PCG-Dubai were in attendance and actively chatted with the repatriates to ensure that their return will be smooth and assure them of the support of the Philippine government. His Excellency Alfonso A. Ver, Philippine Ambassador, had a dialogue with repatriates before they left for Dubai where the Ambassador thanked the UAE government and voiced his deep appreciation on the UAE’s Amnesty Program which waived fines and penalties incurred by Filipinos and even allows repatriates to re-enter the UAE in the future.
The Department of Migrant Workers and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration funded their airfare, provided the necessary assistance prior to their repatriation, and will provide additional assistance upon their arrival. The UAE Amnesty Program allows individuals to either regularise their status or leave the UAE without incurring penalties. The Program started on 01 September and will end on 30 October 2024.
